The former hockey player`s film received an Oscar nomination.
The documentary film Exit of Maxim Arbugaev and his sister Evgenia entered the short list, becoming one of the main contenders for victory.
I spent 15 years playing professional hockey before discovering my love for filmmaking. Back then, an Oscar seemed like just a childhood dream, like winning the Stanley Cup for a hockey player.
I didn`t think seriously about it. It seemed that this was something beyond the real. But now I`m incredibly happy that everything turned out this way. I still can`t believe we got nominated for an Oscar.
