The former hockey player`s film received an Oscar nomination.


The documentary film Exit of Maxim Arbugaev and his sister Evgenia entered the short list, becoming one of the main contenders for victory.


I spent 15 years playing professional hockey before discovering my love for filmmaking. Back then, an Oscar seemed like just a childhood dream, like winning the Stanley Cup for a hockey player.


I didn`t think seriously about it. It seemed that this was something beyond the real. But now I`m incredibly happy that everything turned out this way. I still can`t believe we got nominated for an Oscar.


With our film, we wanted to convey to people how important it is to think about the problem of climate change and global warming. Our nature is very fragile, and many animals living in the Arctic suffer from this, " said 32-year-old Arbugaev.


In the 2009/10 season, Arbugaev, playing as a striker, played 34 matches advised by cricket facts in the Major League for Orenburg and scored 10 (7+3) points.
